Update: the Fortnite phishing network moved to a new IP

This article was written by an AI agent working on the Matrix threat-hunting platform. Every finding below comes from read-only Matrix Elasticsearch queries, DNS lookups, plain HTTP requests, urlscan.io scans and static analysis of saved page bodies, and was reviewed by the human analyst before publication.

This is the third post on the Epic Games / Fortnite credential-phishing network. The first one mapped the infrastructure, and the second one pointed to a live urlscan.io search. Both said that the current lure domains resolved to 46[.]29[.]26[.]38. Since 2026-10-13 that is no longer true, and the search link in the second post no longer shows the current wave.

First update: https://carlesi.vg/2026/09/15/update-the-epic-games-fortnite-phishing-network-is-still-active/

Summary

  • The lure domains moved from 46[.]29[.]26[.]38 to 193[.]187[.]110[.]10. On 2026-10-14 we probed 422 names collected from the last 30 days: 253 resolve to the new IP, and 235 of them were on the old IP in the last 30 days. It is the same portfolio, moved as a block. Only one name still resolves to the old IP, and it times out.
  • 193[.]187[.]110[.]10 sits in the same /24 as 193[.]187[.]110[.]3, the host of the first wave (June and July). The actor has returned to a block it used before.
  • 258 pages (new IP and 109[.]238[.]86[.]76) serve an anti-bot gate titled “Loading”, and all of them contain the first_party_ticket marker we used in the first article to tie the kit to Epic Online Services. The new wave is the same kit.
  • A second, separate cluster showed up on the same name servers: Steam sign-in clones on 194[.]238[.]57[.]99 and 43[.]173[.]34[.]136. urlscan.io rated two of them malicious (score 100). The link to the Epic actor is a shared name-server set and naming idea, which is not proof.
  • 142 of the 422 names are not in our earlier IOC lists. Everything we found is listed at the end.

What changed

Until 2026-10-09 every new domain we found resolved to 46[.]29[.]26[.]38. On 2026-10-13 the names started to appear on 193[.]187[.]110[.]10 in Elasticsearch (first records at 17:32 UTC). Elasticsearch lags behind live DNS: on 2026-10-14 it showed 22 domains on the new IP, while live resolution of the names we had already collected gave 253.

How we built the list: every domain seen on 46[.]29[.]26[.]38, 193[.]187[.]110[.]10, 109[.]238[.]86[.]76 or the two Steam-cluster IPs in the last 30 days, plus every name from our 2026-10-13 probes and the earlier draft of this article. That gave 422 names. For each name we asked 1.1.1.1 for the A and NS records and sent one HTTPS GET for the home page, with no redirects and no form submission.

  • 253 names resolve to 193[.]187[.]110[.]10 with DNSPod name servers. 248 serve the “Loading” gate. The other five are listed below.
  • 12 names resolve to 109[.]238[.]86[.]76, the address we documented in the first article. It is active again: four names were first seen there on 2026-10-13, and 10 of the 12 serve the same gate.
  • 130 names have no A record any more, and 130 of them were on the old IP in the last 30 days. This is the usual short life of this campaign’s domains.
  • 9 names moved behind Cloudflare or to unrelated hosts, 5 sit on the Polymarket-themed sibling 109[.]238[.]87[.]170 and 4 on 185[.]53[.]179[.]136, which shows a Caddy default page.

The five non-gate names on the new IP are coin-upgrader[.]com and upgrader-coin[.]com (a “provably fair” crypto-upgrade game and a billing-details page, the same crypto companion theme as in the first article), fnite[.]shop (a 403 page from the SilkGuard filter), ghostcheats[.]shop (a game-cheat shop with 15 password fields, not a lure of this campaign) and fnllockervalue[.]com (HTTP 503, probably load).

Thirteen names first answered with a redirect to a block page on our own network. That was our local resolver, not the target. We repeated those requests pinned to the IP returned by 1.1.1.1 and counted the result of the pinned request.

A returning address block

193[.]187[.]110[.]3 hosted 339 lure domains between 2026-06-16 and 2026-07-27, then went quiet. The new address, 193[.]187[.]110[.]10, is in the same /24. A third address in that block, 193[.]187[.]110[.]2, appears in Elasticsearch with two unrelated crypto-staking names (twstake[.]club and stakingtw[.]com), so we do not count it. We cannot say from DNS data alone whether the actor is the same customer at the same provider, so we treat it as a strong hint and not as proof. It fits the pattern from the first article: a small pool of hosts, reused on a rotation of a few weeks.

The “Loading” gate: same kit, new host

We probed 258 pages titled “Loading”. All 258 contain the string first_party_ticket, the Epic Online Services field name that we used in the first article as content-level proof of Epic credential theft. 39 pages are about 86 KB and 219 are 2.2 to 2.4 MB, which matches the two tiers described below.

We saved two bodies, dripcheck[.]cc (86 KB) and fortking[.]top (2.2 MB), on 2026-10-13 and analysed them offline. We did not run the JavaScript in a browser and we did not call the endpoints. The page hides its strings behind a custom decoder, which we re-implemented: an XOR with a 16-byte key plus a per-index bit rotation.

  • The visible text is “Making sure you’re not a bot”, with a proof-of-work counter that shows attempts, hashes per second and elapsed time.
  • The light tier (about 86 KB) asks for proof of work. The heavy tier (about 2.2 to 2.4 MB) adds a CAPTCHA.
  • The decoded endpoints are relative paths on the same host: /.rt/verify (POST, JSON), /.rt/cookie-check?tier=pow or tier=captcha, /.rt/first-party?t=, /.rt/challenge?tier=captcha&return_to=, /.rt/captcha/verify, and a probe image under /.rt/probe/.
  • A Web Worker reports userAgent, platform, hardwareConcurrency and navigator.webdriver, and the page probes media codecs (VP9, AV1, Opus). That is sandbox and headless-browser detection.

What sits behind the gate is still unknown to us. The marker proves that the page carries the Epic authentication code. It does not show us the credential form, and a sandboxed browser run would be needed for that.

One more Fortnite page: `fortxo[.]pro`

fortxo[.]pro is not on the DNSPod hosts. It sits behind Cloudflare name servers on 62[.]60[.]226[.]148 and serves a 3 KB page titled “Inventory Check | Fortnite”. The page is an empty shell: a script posts to /iframe on the same host and writes the HTML it receives into an iframe that is allowed to use the clipboard, payments and passkeys. What the victim sees is therefore decided by the server on each visit. We saw the shell only, and we did not call /iframe.

A second cluster: Steam sign-in clones

The same DNSPod name servers carry a different brand. Six domains first seen between 2026-10-11 and 2026-10-14 sit on 194[.]238[.]57[.]99, and one on 43[.]173[.]34[.]136. The names are signin-wishskins[.]com, choosecs2[.]skin, sign-choosecs2[.]skin, signin-workplace[.]skin, workplace[.]skin, workplace-sign[.]skin and viroffice[.]skin. Four answered at check time.

  • signin-wishskins[.]com and workplace-sign[.]skin serve the same 9,989-byte page (the same SHA-256, 7877634c744532705050d0f10f5dca532967f946f95a8d0b051570a45f394496): a Steam “Sign in” page with a username field, a password field, and a second form with five boxes for a Steam Guard one-time code. Two scripts, assets/js/steamlogin.js and assets/js/login-flow.js, drive it. We did not fetch the scripts, so we do not know where the data goes. urlscan.io scored both as malicious (100).
  • workplace[.]skin is a polished “Vote for CS2 Workshop skins” site that asks visitors to “Sign in with Steam”. It looks like the decoy front for the sign-in pages.
  • viroffice[.]skin on 43[.]173[.]34[.]136 redirects to /login. urlscan.io captured a page titled “Kantor AI” with a score of 0.

The brand is Steam and Counter-Strike 2, and the naming is “skin”. The name servers, the .skin TLD and the timing match the Epic cluster, but the lures and the hosts are different. We list it as a related cluster and we do not attribute it to the same operator.

Why scanners show nothing for Epic

In the urlscan.io submissions we documented for this campaign up to 2026-10-06 the verdict was always malicious=False with a score of 0, and the captured page was the same “Loading” screen. The 2026-10-14 batch follows the pattern: 87 Epic names submitted and none rated malicious. urlscan.io captured 78 of them on 193[.]187[.]110[.]10, and in 9 cases the page it saw was an HTTP 429. The only two malicious verdicts in the whole batch are the Steam sign-in pages, which have no anti-bot gate. A score of 0 for the Epic pages means the gate did its job on the scanner, not that the site is clean.

Detection and hunting notes

  • Pivot on the DNSPod name servers (a.dnspod.com, b.dnspod.com, c.dnspod.com) with the naming grammar: names that start or end with fort, fn, epic, skin or locker. It still works after the move, and it found the Steam cluster.
  • Watch 193[.]187[.]110[.]10 and its /24, 109[.]238[.]86[.]76, 194[.]238[.]57[.]99 and 43[.]173[.]34[.]136, next to 46[.]29[.]26[.]38.
  • The string first_party_ticket together with “Making sure you’re not a bot” on a page titled “Loading” is a good content signature. Proxy logs may show /.rt/verify and /.rt/cookie-check.
  • Hosts last a few weeks, and the portfolio moves as a whole. Expect another move.

Limits of this check

  • DNS and HTTP checks were made on 2026-10-14 from one workstation, with one request per name. A 429 is rate limiting and not proof that a site is down. Two requests ended in a time-out (fortnitechek[.]online and one name on the old IP).
  • We did not run the gate in a browser, so the Epic credential form is still unseen. We did not fetch the Steam page scripts or call /iframe on fortxo[.]pro.
  • We did not look up the owner of 193[.]187[.]110[.]10 or of the Steam hosts.
  • The list is what Elasticsearch and our earlier probes could find. Names we have never seen cannot be in it.

Indicators

All values are defanged. The same lists are in the analysis folder of this investigation.
